On-Site Car Key Replacement by Make, Model, and Key Type
Modern vehicles use several distinct key technologies, and matching the right solution to your specific car is the most important step in any replacement job. Basic mechanical keys — still found on many older domestic and import vehicles — require precision cutting to the original specifications of your door and ignition lock cylinders. Transponder keys, introduced widely in the 1990s and still standard on most mid-range vehicles today, contain a small chip that must be electronically programmed to communicate with your car's immobilizer system. A cut key alone will not start a transponder-equipped vehicle; the chip must be coded to match the vehicle's ECU before the engine will turn over. Then there are proximity fobs and smart keys — used across Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, and many others — which require specialized programming equipment and, in some cases, access to the vehicle's onboard computer via OBD-II port.
Our mobile units are stocked with key-cutting machines capable of both standard and laser-cut (high-security) blade profiles, along with programming tools that cover a broad library of domestic, European, and Asian makes. Common vehicles we work on regularly in New York include: Toyota Camry, Corolla, RAV4, and Highlander; Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, and Pilot; Ford F-Series trucks, Explorer, and Escape; Chevrolet Silverado, Malibu, and Equinox; Nissan Altima, Sentra, and Rogue; Hyundai Sonata, Elantra, and Tucson; Kia Optima and Sorento; BMW 3-Series and 5-Series; Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler; Dodge RAM and Charger; Subaru Outback and Forester; Volkswagen Jetta and Passat; Lexus ES and RX series; and Acura TLX and MDX, among others. If your make or model is not on that list, call 646-793-9803 — our team handles a wide range of vehicles and will confirm capability before dispatching.
